President Obama’s tax compromise with the Senate Republicans “is a fast moving train”, says House Democrat Peter Welch who last week circulated a letter signed by 54 Democrats urging opposition to the deal. Since last week momentum in favor of the plan, including public opinion and the endorsement of former President Clinton, has grown. It also appears that House leadership will only put up a symbolic fight to the bill. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said Tuesday, “The vote in the Senate indicates an urgency that is felt by a broad spectrum that middle-income taxes not be increased come January 1.  In order to effect that, you’ve got to pass a bill.” Hoyer says Senate tax vote reflects 'urgency' for middle-class cuts - TheHill.com
